Goldfinch Flock (Carduelis tristis)

When I got up this morning I noticed right away how many Goldfinch's there were outside gathering dead grass and sticks for nests so I decided to get some shots of them on the Nyjer thistle seed feeder. Heres some info on the American Goldfinch.

The American Goldfinch is often called the "wild canary". The male in breeding plumage is usually bright canary yellow. The female is more dull and sort of greenish yellow.

Among the very latest songbirds to nest each year. They are a very territorial bird, but they do not mind humans. Nesting begins in late summer and continues until early Fall.

They are declining in eastern North America, but they are very stable in the west.

The Wheel Of Time

Around a month ago i ordered all the books in the Wheel Of Time series by Robert Jordan from chapters indigo. There is eleven books in the series there was going to be twelve but Robert Jordan died last year near the starting of December, he was 58.

Robert Jordan is one of my favorite authors. The type of novels he wrote were fantasy adventure and are action packed. I have only read three of the eleven books, of them is the prequel to the whole story so it counts as number zero in the series.

If you like Piers Anthony, Christopher Paolini or the Dragon Lance series or if you just love fantasy adventure books then i recommend reading some of Robert Jordan's work.

Mermaids Purse

This is a Mermaids purse found on one of our local beaches, a Mermaids Purse is normally a empty egg case of a skate, dogfish, sharks, and stingrays. They are usually found washed up on the strand line, which is the furthest point of the highest tide.

If you find a Mermaids Purse and it is still moist and has no hole in it it is most likely still occupied.

Turkey Vulture

The other day i went to the dentist, and on the way back we saw a Turkey vulture standing right on the road by some roadkill.

After a while it got scared of the car being so close so it just glided around, with its wings out it was easily as big as me.
Heres another picture of it gliding around and circling over its meal. We also saw some Canadian geese ill put some pics of them on later.

This is our new edition to the family, she is a lab mixed with maybe a husky were still not sure yet, we got her from a nice family in town. Gabbi is a lovely puppy she is only 7 months old and is very cute. The First Bumble Bee

I saw the first bee of the year today, it was buzzing around the Daphne looking for some nectar and i was able to get a few close up pictures of it before it left.

I believe it to be a "Bombus Lucorum " its a very common bee and makes its nest underground, and is one of the first bees to be seen in spring.

This bee is from the family "Apidae" and is from the order Hymenoptera and there average body length is 3-27mm (1/8-1 1/4in). Bees are world wide except for Antarctica.

Apids are major crop pollinators. The value of crops pollinated by bees alone far exceeds the value of honey, wax and any other products they provide!

Thyme

This is a close up picture of a rose bush i took not long ago, and behind it in the back of the picture is our green house.
This is a close-up picture of some purple creeping thyme, its amazing how you can see all the microscopic hairs on it. The orange thing laying on top of the thyme is some cedar tree needles, i never knew they were so beautiful until this picture. Also the thyme was first grown in the green house before being planted.

Heres some more pictures from the beach, the top one is looking across the beach from the sand, the second picture is a breathing tube sticking out of the ground. Clams and mollusks will dig down into the sand and live there but they need to breath so they will make tubes out of sand to bring air down to them.

Common Jumping Spider

This is a drawing of a Common Jumping spider i did yesterday, Heres some info on Jumping spiders.

Jumping spiders live in a variety of habitats. Tropical jungles harbor the most species, but they are also found in temperate forests , scrub lands, deserts, the intertidel zone (in Malaysia), even mountains (one species is reported to have been the spider collected at the highest elevation, on the slopes of Mt.Everest (Wanless, 1975).

You can usually recognize a Jumping spider by their eye pattern. They typically have eight eyes
arranged in two or three rows, the two front eyes are the biggest and most forward facing. Colors and patterns vary widely, several species mimic ants. The jumping spider has a very unique and developed internal hydraulic system that allows them to extend their limbs by altering the pressure of body fluid (blood) within them. This enables them to jump without large muscled legs like a grasshoppers. The jumping spider can therefore jump 2o to 6o or even 80 times the length of its body.

This is my newest drawing it is called "The Stranger" because the guy with all the armor and the overly large gun is walking in this really thick mist on this strange strange world, but he is also being watched by 6 locals all dressed in hoods and cloaks and carrying very wicked looking swords , can you find them all?

This is a new drawing i did of another Marvel character this time of Deadpool, heres some info on him. When wade wilson was diagnosed with cancer, he allowed the scientists of Weapon X- the secret Canadian government project that had created Wolverine and Sabretooth- to try to cure him by attempting to recreate Wolverine's genetic healing ability. The cure was successful, but Wilson's skin was left a mangled mess, and Weapon X placed him in a prison lab as a failed experiment. After killing the guards and escaping, Deadpool began his career as one of the world's deadly mercenaries for hire.

Heres a couple drawings of Marvels Kang i did a few days ago but didn't have time to put on. Kang is a master of time travel technology which allows him to journey virtually anywheres he liked in the timestream. Kang has conquered many civilizations by using his time traveling powers and has even tried to take over modern Earth with his son the new Scarlet Centurion but they met defeat at the hands of the Avengers.

Ammonoids & Nautiloids

Ammonites are a form of ammoniod distinguished by there complex suture lines. They were abundant and diverse in the seas of the Mesozoic Era, and they evolved very rapidly to produce numerous species and genera. After a decline in diversity during the late Cretaceous period, ammonites became extinct at the same time as other marine groups, such as belemnites, and terrestrial groups such as dinosaurs. As both ammonites and there close relatives are both extinct scientists know very little about their mode of life. What is known about ammonites has been worked out mostly from experiments with model shells in water tanks.

The first 3 pictures are of some of my own ammonite fossils, and the fourth one is a picture of there modern relative the nautilus. The nautilus live deep under water at day usually scavenging on the bottom of the seabed but at night they will rise up to the shallower parts and hunt for prey, nautilus are disappearing by day because there beautiful shells are being sold to tourists if you see a nautilus in the wild its rare and you should think of yourself as very lucky because eventually tourism is going to wipe them out.

Doctor Strange

Heres my new drawing its of Marvels Doctor Strange enjoy. Doctor Stephan Strange was a highly successful but arrogant surgeon whose brilliant career was abruptly cut short by a car accident. He suffered minor nerve damage which caused him from holding a scalpel steadily enough to perform surgery. Strange traveled to Tibet to meet a healer known as the Ancient One. At first Strange didn't believe in the magic powers that the Ancient One claimed to have until he discovered that the Ancient One's pupil Baron Mordo planned to murder his master. Mordo Cast a spell on Strange that prevented him from uttering a warning to the Ancient One but allowed him to speak otherwise, realizing that magic was real he asked the Ancient One if he could become his apprentice the Ancient One agreed and lifted the spell on Strange and revealed that he was well aware that his pupil was evil, since then the Ancient One has guided Strange and taught him in the magic arts up until his death Doctor Strange still fights evil though using his masters teachings.

Heres todays drawing of Super-Skrull from Marvel Comics. After the Fantastic Four prevented the Skrulls from conquering Earth, the Skrull Emperor vowed to develop a super-weapon that could destroy them. His scientists created the Super-Skrull, a warrior bionically re-engineered to possess all the powers of the Fantastic Four. The Super-Skrull's first battle ended in failure and he was imprisoned by Fantastic Four. He eventually escaped but the Fantastic Four defeated him again and he was temporarily brought back to his planet but only to return after a short while Super-Skrull lives on Earth impersonating a human now.

Scourge

Heres one of my latest drawings, its of Scourge from Marvel Comics. The original Scourge was the brother of the criminal known as the Enforcer. Outraged by his brother's criminal behavior, Scourge got a gun and disguised himself as an old women, and gunned down the Enforcer. He then became obsessed with traveling the country ruthlessly exterminating criminal after criminal, all while disguised. Each time Scourge shot someone he would yell "Justice is served!"
The original Scourge was captured by Captain America but before Cap could turn him over to the authorities, Scourge was shot by an unseen assailant who also shouted "Justice is served!" who then became the new Scourge. Over the years each Scourge has been assassinated by a following Scourge to keep him from talking. Scourges relied on the resources of a private detective named Domino, who kept track of super villains around the world.

I wasn't able to post yesterday because i was playing with my new PSP i just got, its awesome it has internet, music, videos, and i downloaded a update for it that gives it a phone. Since it was the limited Star Wars edition it came with "Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron", and i got another game at the store called "Monster Hunter 2" the PSP also has a picture of Darth Vader on the back. Heres a new drawing i just recently finished its a picture Marvel Comic's Juggernaut. Heres some info on him, After the death of her husband, Sharon Xavier married his colleague, atomic scientist Dr.Kurt Marko. Dr. Marko often beat his son Cain, who in turn bullied his new stepbrother Charles Xavier (professor X), whom he came to hate. Marko joined the army, but deserted wile in Korea. In a cave he came upon a temple to the god Cyttorak. Marko seized a large ruby, which magically transformed him into a "human juggernaut", an unstoppable super being. Enemy bombs then caused the cave to collapse burying him alive. But years later he resurfaced as one of the X-mens strongest enemy's.

Heres a drawing i did today of Scorpion from Marvel Comics. Heres his facts, Dr Farley Stillwell had developed a method of giving animals the attributes of other creatures. When newspaper editor J.Jonah Jameson found out, he asked Stillwell to test it out on a human guinea pig, a private investigator named Mac Gargan. Stillwell's amazing procedure gave Gargan the strength and agility of a scorpion. Stillwell also provided him with a specially designed tail.
Nothing comes without a price and the cost to Gargan- now calling himself the Scorpion- was the loss of his sanity.
Contracted to put an end to Spider-Man, it was only by his wits that the wallcrawler defeated the hugely powerful, and vengeful Scorpion. Since then, Scorpion has become an assassin-for-hire, his intermittent attempts to defeat Spider-Man being repeatedly foiled.

Heres a drawing i just did of Holocaust from Marvel Comics, enjoy. Sired in the age of Apocalypse. Holocaust claimed to be the son of Apocalypse and served as leader of Apocalypse's four horse men. Escaping that time line right before it was obliterated, Holocaust was transported to Earth-616, where he destroyed the Avalon space station and fought against the time lines X-men where eventually an encounter with Hyperion led to his demise.

Heres a new drawing i just did from marvel comics villainous Carrion. Heres his story, The first Carrion was a clone of Miles Warren who was Spider-Man's enemy Jackal. Before his death Warren left a clone of himself in a capsule, but something went wrong and the creature that emerged was like a living corpse. Carrion died in a fire following a battle with Spider-Man. Many years later, a fellow research student of Peter Parker's named Malcolm McBride discovered a test tube containing a genetic creation of Warren's, the "Carrion Virus." The virus consumed McBride and turned him into a second incarnation of Carrion. When Miles Warren's body was examined by Dr. William Allen, he was infected with the virus, and became the third and most powerful Carrion. Carrion could repel living matter, levitate, and destroy living matter with his touch also he could reduce the density of his body to become almost invisible, and he also teleport.

Heres a drawing i did today of Iron Fist from marvel comics. Wendell Rand was the son of the ruler of K'un-L'un, a city in another dimension. He came to the US, married, and had a son, Danny. When Danny was nine, he accompanied Wendell, his wife heather, and his business partner Harold Meachum on an expedition to K'un-L'un. Meachum caused Wendells death and Heather was killed by wolves. only Danny reached the city. Aged 19, Danny slew the dragon Shao-Lao the undying and gained the power of the "Iron Fist", he confronted Meachum, but spared him. Danny became wealthy from his new ruler ship of K'un-L'un, and as Iron Fist he partnered with Power Man in Heroes For Hire.

Just the other year the government built a indoors rink here in St.Martins, but they wouldn't put freezing in it so just last Friday was when they were able to have the ice ready for the public, because the people running it have to do it all by hand, and for the last few day i have been down there skating for hours. This Christmas i just got a new pair of hockey skates Easton synergy 1100's and i think there the best. Last year my mom took this picture of me skating so i thought i would post it.

Blizzard

Blizzard is one of my other favorite super villains from the marvel universe. The story of Blizzard starts and ends with the name Stark. Employed by Stark Industries, Dr Gregor Shapanka became obsessed with his own mortality and attempted to steal and sell from Stark Industries technology in order to fund research into longevity. After being fired for misdemeanors, he developed a suit that was capable of creating extreme cold. The gloves on Blizzards battle suit could project intense cold, generate freezing mist, mini blizzards, sleet, and darts of ice capable of piercing metal. His suit allowed him to survive in the extreme cold also. Even though he has no super powers Blizzard is highly dangerous.

My Rats

Here are my 3 rats from top to bottom: Almond, Hazel, and Missie. They are the most curious and inquisitive pets u can get, they are cute, lovable, smart, and of course loyal and trusting and my favorite thing about rats is they will actually come out and wrestle with your hand. The only down side is that if u get a male rat they spray even after seeing the vet so i would get female rats if i was just getting them for the first time and always get more than one they cant stand being alone. I highly recommend these pets to anyone willing to take care of them.

Lobo is the best anti-hero that DC comics has made yet, he has super strength, super stamina, can survive without food or oxygen, and he is immortal because neither heaven nor hell wants him, and if he gets cut he can duplicate himself with a drop of blood, he is a master of all weapons. His favorite weapon is a chain with a hook on the end, he will take any hit if the price is right he has even taken a hit out on god and Santa Claus. He is my favorite DC character

This is my Lego tank i mad a while ago. It can hold 2 mini figures i decided to add in one of my mini figures with a rocket launcher i made out of a few Lego pieces. Ill post the directions for the rocket launcher sometime later on my blog.

In the picture below on the left hand side is half a dog, his name is buddy i didn't put his name in the last post because i don't have him anymore. he was dropped off on the road near my house so i decided to take care of him until we found a new home anyways a family from Sussex was willing to take him so we let them and buddy lives with them now.
